Boots £29 Vitamin B12 Service Launches in 145 Stores

High street pharmacy giant Boots has rolled out a new private health service designed to help customers tackle vitamin deficiencies and improve their wellbeing.

Affordable Nutrient Support on the High Street

The retailer has introduced a Vitamin B12 Injection Service that will be available at 145 Boots stores across the United Kingdom. Each session is priced at £29 per person and will last approximately 20 minutes.

This new offering provides accessible nutritional support for those struggling with low Vitamin B12 levels, which can lead to significant health issues including persistent fatigue, low energy, and muscle weakness.

Comprehensive Healthcare Solution

Claire Nevinson, superintendent pharmacist at Boots, explained the thinking behind the new service: "The launch of our Vitamin B12 Service helps provide customers with convenient access to nutritional support they may need, when they need it."

She highlighted how the service complements Boots' existing own brand Vitamin B12 Blood Test Kit, creating what she describes as "a seamless, end-to-end private testing journey" that connects customers with clinical expertise and appropriate products based on their results.

"It's a great example of how people can use Boots as a first port of call for their healthcare needs," Nevinson added, "which include managing nutrition and treating deficiencies, right on the high street."

Understanding Vitamin B12 Deficiency

Vitamin B12 plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy nerve function and producing red blood cells. The vitamin is naturally found in animal products including meat, fish, eggs, and dairy, as well as some fortified foods.

Certain groups are particularly at risk of deficiency, as Nevinson noted: "If you follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, it can be hard to get enough B12 as it's not naturally found in foods such as fruit, vegetables, or grains."

Common symptoms that might indicate a Vitamin B12 deficiency include:

  • Persistent fatigue and weakness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Reduced appetite
  • Frequent headaches
  • Mouth ulcers
  • Digestive issues
  • Feelings of mild depression

While most people obtain sufficient Vitamin B12 from a balanced diet, the Boots service offers an option for those with nutritional gaps or underlying health conditions affecting absorption.

Customers can book appointments for the new service online at boots.com or by visiting participating stores directly. The pharmacy chain recommends that anyone experiencing concerning symptoms should consult their GP for proper medical advice.
