The heartbroken mother of Katie Fox, who was fatally stabbed at a bus stop in Birmingham city centre last November, has paid tribute to her 'beautiful' daughter at a special memorial service held at St Francis Church in Bournville.
Friends and family gathered on Friday, May 1, to remember the 34-year-old, who was killed while waiting for a bus on Smallbrook Queensway. Katie had been laid to rest two months earlier in Devon, her 'special place' where she had planned to move.
Mother's Tribute
Speaking at the service, mum Maria described Katie as 'a beautiful and caring soul' who was 'passionate about all that was good in life.' The service featured music performances by Katie's partner Gary and his band 'ADHD', which helped raise over £200 for Cats Protection, Katie's favourite charity.
Memorial Details
Maria explained that the memorial allowed family and friends to share personal memories of Katie. The service concluded with visitors lighting candles placed next to photographs of Katie.
Legal Proceedings
Djeison Rafael, 21, of no fixed address, has been charged with Katie's murder and is due to stand trial on October 6.
