Gunman Jailed 14 Years for Birmingham Shooting

A gunman has been sentenced to more than 14 years in prison after shooting a man in the stomach in broad daylight on a Birmingham street. The incident occurred on August 28, 2024, when the victim was driving a white Peugeot van in the Bartley Green area and became involved in a dispute with the driver of a white Audi.

Details of the Attack

Both vehicles stopped on Glen Side, where the victim was joined by his brother. A fight broke out before Jordan Edwards, 32, arrived in another Audi and shot a 48-year-old man in the stomach. The victim's brother, who was known to Edwards, was struck over the head with a brick.

Investigation and Arrest

Following analysis of CCTV, digital evidence, and witness statements, Edwards was identified as the gunman. He remained at large until January 12, 2025, when he was spotted in the Jewellery Quarter. He fled from officers into a flat on Hylton Street, where police forced entry and arrested him. During a search, a loaded 9mm pistol was recovered, along with cocaine worth approximately £15,000 and £10,000 hidden in a washing basket in the kitchen.

Police Statement

Detective Sergeant Michael Fisher of West Midlands Police's Major Crime Unit said: "This was extreme violence using a firearm, on a summer's afternoon in Birmingham. Guns have no place on our streets, and we work around the clock to bring those who think it's acceptable to carry or use them to justice. Edwards will now spend years behind bars, and we've taken another gun off the streets as a result."
