Rossendale Borough Council Registers New Planning Applications
Rossendale Borough Council has received a series of planning applications up to the week ending Friday, February 13. These proposals include significant developments across the borough, ranging from new educational facilities to residential conversions and household extensions.
Major Developments in Bacup and Crawshawbooth
One of the most notable applications involves the demolition of an existing building and storage yard on land north of Reed Street in Bacup. The plan calls for the construction of a nursery and pre-school building, complete with associated parking and outdoor spaces. This project aims to enhance early years education infrastructure in the area.
In Crawshawbooth, a proposal seeks a change of use for a building at 530-532 Burnley Road. Currently operating under a mixed use of Class E and Class C3, the application requests conversion to Class C3 only, which would result in three residential dwellings. External modifications include a first-floor rear extension, alterations to the roof pitch, addition of a rear dormer with an external roof terrace, and updates to the building's fenestration.
Householder Applications Across Rossendale
Several householder applications have been submitted, focusing on improvements and extensions to existing properties. In Helmshore, a proposal at 3 Gregory Fold involves replacing front elevation windows with wood-look PVC double glazing, while keeping the same style, and updating the door.
Other extensions include:
- A two-storey side extension with Juliette balconies at Laneside Barn on Goodshaw Lane in Crawshawbooth.
- A two-storey rear and side extension with a new porch at 41 Holland Avenue in Rawtenstall.
- A domestic extension and annexe building at Great Clough Farm on Loveclough Place in Loveclough.
- Various extensions at addresses in Bacup and Haslingden, such as single-storey and two-storey rear extensions, side extensions, and new driveways for off-street parking.
Additional Planning Matters
A proposed Certificate of Lawfulness has been filed for a single-storey rear extension projecting 3000mm at 23 Gordon Street in Bacup. Additionally, a discharge of conditions related to a construction method statement and shrub clearance is sought for planning approval 2025/0282 at Rawtenstall Market Hall on Newchurch Road.
These applications are now under review by Rossendale Borough Council, with decisions expected to follow in the coming weeks. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to monitor updates as the planning process unfolds.
