Wychavon: New 10,000-Home Town Near Worcester Unveils Key Industrial Park Plans
Wychavon: New Town's Industrial Park Plans Submitted

Detailed proposals for a significant new industrial and logistics park have been formally submitted, marking a major step forward in the creation of a vast new town in the West Midlands. The development is a cornerstone of the ambitious Wychavon project, which will eventually deliver up to 10,000 new homes near Worcester.

Strategic Employment Hub for New Community

The newly unveiled plans, put before Wychavon District Council, focus on a 29-hectare site located close to junction 7 of the M5 motorway. Designed as a standalone facility, this industrial estate is projected to supply more than half of the total employment land pledged for the entire Wychavon development.

Applicants argue the site's prime location offers excellent connectivity, making it a pivotal component of the wider Worcestershire Parkway strategic growth area. The proposal emphasises a design that responds to the local landscape, aiming to integrate the business park with its surroundings while meeting rising demand for industrial and logistics space in the region.

The Vision for Woodhall and a Car-Free Future

This industrial zone will form part of the Woodhall neighbourhood, one of several distinct areas within the new town. Woodhall itself is slated for up to 1,250 homes, a primary school, public green spaces, and essential local services. Its design ethos draws from agricultural heritage and historic parkland, with a specific focus on preserving panoramic views of the local landmark, Crookbarrow Hill.

A central pillar of the Wychavon vision is sustainable transport. Each neighbourhood will be well-connected to a new town centre and, crucially, to the Worcestershire Parkway railway station. This station is destined to become part of an integrated transport hub, engineered to offer future residents a genuine choice to adopt a sustainable, car-free lifestyle.

Public Consultation Now Underway

These latest plans coincide with a key phase of public consultation on the overarching South Worcestershire Development Plan Review, the planning blueprint guiding growth in the area. Following revisions by government inspectors—which included the removal of Throckmorton as an allocated site—local residents are now invited to give their feedback.

The official consultation period began on Tuesday, 6 January 2026, and will run until 5pm on Tuesday, 17 February 2026. All details and documentation are accessible online via the dedicated consultation portal. The broader Wychavon project is expected to provide 5,000 homes and 50 hectares of employment land by 2041, building towards its ultimate capacity.
