Peak District Solstice Murder Suspect in Court

A murder suspect charged in connection with the death of a man at a summer solstice event in the Midlands has appeared in court. Szymon Babynko, 23, of Commonwealth Way, London, faced Derby Crown Court on Wednesday, July 1, accused of killing Isaac Clare-Watts.

Details of the Incident

Mr Clare-Watts, 26, from Nottingham, was found dead in the area of the Nine Ladies Stone Circle in the Peak District on Monday, June 22. The ancient stone circle is a popular site for solstice celebrations. Babynko is also charged with attempted murder relating to an incident in Hady Lane, Chesterfield on Thursday, June 25.

Court Proceedings

At the hearing, a provisional trial date was set for November 23. The defendant is due to next appear at Derby Crown Court on September 25. He was remanded in custody. A 41-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident has since been released without charge, Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed.
