Murder charge after Walsall man's death in Welshpool

Martin Slezak, a 22-year-old man, has been charged with murder following the death of Young John Mongan, a 49-year-old from Walsall, in Welshpool town centre. The incident occurred on Church Street at 1:16 am on Sunday, June 28, when police received reports of a man injured. Despite medical efforts, Mr. Mongan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Suspect remanded in custody

Dyfed-Powys Police confirmed that Martin Slezak, of Stanley Street, Welshpool, was charged with murder and has been remanded in custody to appear at court. A force spokesperson stated: "A 22-year-old has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Welshpool town centre. Martin Slezak, of Stanley Street, Welshpool, has been charged with the murder of 49-year-old Young John Mongan from Walsall. He has been remanded in custody to appear at court."
