A teenage boxer who has been balancing his GCSE exams with a rigorous training schedule is celebrating after winning the 70kg Yorkshire Challenge Belt. Logan Hardaker claimed the Yorkshire champion title following a split decision victory over Dylan Wilson from Hull's Kingston ABC.
Victory Details
According to Logan's coach, Jonny Maude from Sowerby Bridge ABC, "Logan took the fight directly to Dylan with powerful straight right-hand punches. He countered everything his opponent threw at him, keeping up the pressure throughout. By the third and final round, Logan was dominating. Both boxers are to be commended for their skill and courage."
Maude added, "Logan has been training hard at the gym for this bout and got his tactics spot-on. He has proved to be a consistently dedicated boxer in the five years he has trained with us. A fine example of success coming from grit and determination. I also want to thank people at Graft Gym for the ongoing support offered to Logan and other Sowerby Bridge boxers."
Logan's Journey
Logan, a student at Ryburn Valley High School, said, "I have been training for four years now, up to five times a week. I am 16 now, and my life centres around my boxing and the hard work it requires to succeed. I had been a previous Yorkshire champion at 58kg and am proud to have become the champion at 70kg. I appreciate the friendships in the club and the support I get as I travel around the north of England competing. My ambition is to join the ranks of professional boxing, but there are national amateur titles to win beforehand."
Club Invitation
"We are always keen to welcome new boxers," concluded Jonny Maude. "Whether or not a novice wants to compete, they will be made welcome at our club."
