A man in his 50s has died following a skydiving incident at Headcorn Aerodrome near Maidstone, Kent. The tragic event occurred at approximately 10am yesterday, with emergency services confirming the individual was deceased at the scene.
Police Investigation Launched into Unexplained Death
Kent Police have confirmed they are treating the death as unexplained and have launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances. Officers attended the scene where the man was pronounced dead, and his next of kin have been informed.

Eyewitness Accounts Describe Disturbing Scene
Eyewitnesses at the aerodrome reported seeing something fall to the ground during the incident. One mother who was waiting to perform a charity skydive described being "traumatised" after realising it was a body.
She explained: "My son was watching from the spectator's section and saw the person hit the ground and the parachute open with the impact. Another person in my group was getting hysterical because she saw what happened."
The witness added that officials had counted parachutes and discovered one was missing, confirming someone was unaccounted for during the operation.

A spokesman for skydiving company Go Skydive confirmed the incident involved a solo club skydiver at the Headcorn drop zone. The company expressed their thoughts for those affected and thanked emergency services for their swift response.
