Aston Villa Legend Ashley Young Announces Retirement

Ashley Young has officially announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of the current season. The former Aston Villa and Manchester United winger, who turns 41 in July, will bring his illustrious career to a close following Ipswich Town's remaining Championship fixtures.

Emotional Farewell

In a statement, Young expressed his gratitude and pride in his achievements. "I am incredibly proud and fortunate to have achieved everything I have during my career. It’s not too often you sit and think about this while you are still in the game, but I have lived my dream during the last 23 years. It’s now time for some reflection on what I’ve been able to achieve and the next few weeks and months will be when I decide what I am going to do next."

Two Spells at Villa Park

Young enjoyed two separate spells at Aston Villa. He first joined Villa from Watford in 2007, making nearly 200 appearances before moving to Manchester United in 2011. After a successful stint at Old Trafford, he returned to Villa in 2021 for a further two seasons before moving on to Ipswich Town.
