Birmingham City have emerged as the leading contenders to secure a significant transfer coup, with a move for Danish striker August Priske now looking imminent.
Father Confirms Transfer Readiness
The 21-year-old forward's father and Sparta Prague manager, Brian Priske, has publicly stated that it is "completely natural" for his son to leave Swedish club Djurgarden this winter. This comes after a standout season where August Priske top-scored in the Swedish top flight with 18 goals in just 27 matches.
Speaking to Danish outlet Campo, Priske senior revealed a summer move was close and praised his son's development. "It's great that he can take the next step," he said. "He's just had an even better season now. It would be completely natural if it happens now."
Blues Hold Strong Interest in Danish Prospect
Birmingham City have identified Priske as a prime target to bolster their attacking options and have already held discussions with Djurgarden. Reports from Sweden consistently name the Championship side as the frontrunners to secure his signature.
The proposed deal is believed to be worth around €7 million, which equates to approximately £6 million. This substantial fee underscores the potential Blues see in the young Dane, who fits the profile of striker they are actively seeking in the January transfer window.
Emotional Farewell to Sweden on the Cards
Despite the looming transfer, Brian Priske was keen to highlight his son's deep affection for his current club. "He really loves Djurgården, and he has some fantastic teammates and friends. And it's not just for a short period. It's for life, I'm sure," he stated.
He also credited the club's sports manager, Bosse Andersson, for playing a pivotal role in August's development. Priske senior believes that if the transfer is completed, his son's former colleagues will be proud of his progression to a new challenge.
With the player's camp signalling readiness and Birmingham City pushing to finalise a deal, all signs point to August Priske becoming a major arrival at St Andrew's in the near future.
