Birmingham City are reportedly plotting an ambitious swoop for Danish striker August Priske as they seek to bolster their attacking options this January.
Scandinavian Scouting Mission
The Blues have been linked with a move for the 21-year-old goal scorer, according to a report from Danish publication Tipsbladet. Priske is coming off a sensational season in the Swedish Allsvenskan with Djurgårdens IF, where his 18 goals in 27 matches secured him the league's Golden Boot award for 2025.
Birmingham's interest in the Scandinavian market is well-documented. The Championship club have scouted the Allsvenskan extensively and were recently pursuing a deal for Mjällby AIF winger Abdoulie Manneh before it collapsed earlier this week.
A Prospect in High Demand
Securing Priske's signature will not be straightforward for Blues. The towering 6ft 4in forward, noted for his impressive speed, has also attracted attention from significant European clubs. The report names Turkish giants Besiktas and French side Lille as among the continental outfits tracking the player's progress.
Priske developed in the youth academies of Danish powerhouses FC Midtjylland and FC Copenhagen before making his move to Sweden in 2024. His performances last term were so impressive that he was also crowned the Allsvenskan Forward of the Year for 2025.
Adding Firepower to St. Andrew's
Birmingham's current striking department features top scorer Jay Stansfield, who has nine goals this season, alongside Marvin Ducksch and Kyogo Furuhashi. The potential addition of Priske would provide a different physical profile and inject fresh competition for places upfront.
At this stage, it remains unclear how advanced Birmingham's interest is. BirminghamLive has not been able to independently verify whether the club are actively pursuing a deal or merely monitoring the situation, as the initial link emerged from the Danish media.
The January transfer window is now open, and this link signals Birmingham's intent to strengthen their squad as they look to build momentum in the second half of the Championship season.
