The mounting injury list, which forced Davies to name three academy players on the bench, is likely to delay crucial January transfer decisions. The club may now be reluctant to allow loanee Eiran Cashin to return to Brighton, given his competent display at left-back.
A similar situation applies to Liverpool's Lewis Koumas, though his parent club may be less sympathetic to Blues' predicament. Decisions on these players are expected to be postponed until after this week's fixture against Coventry City.
