Lewis Koumas has opened up about his two-year loan journey in the Championship, which ultimately ended with promotion to the Premier League with Hull City. The Liverpool youngster's spell at Birmingham City was sandwiched between more productive stints at Stoke City and Hull.
Koumas' Birmingham City Experience
The 20-year-old winger started his final four matches for Birmingham City before returning to Liverpool. His loan was cut short after he scored just one goal in 25 appearances, with the club bringing in Ibrahim Osman from Brighton as a replacement.
Reflecting on his time at St Andrew's, Koumas said: "I played 25 games at Birmingham, which was OK, but it wasn't really what I was looking for and decided that change in January would be for the best."
Success at Hull City
Koumas was not a regular starter for Hull, missing out on the play-off final win over Middlesbrough at Wembley. However, he contributed three goals and earned the title of promotion winner.
He added: "To go to Hull and achieve something very special, the changing room is definitely one of a kind, and to do it with them was one of the best feelings ever."
Koumas also credited his development to being around first-team environments, saying: "Staying in and around first-team environments is definitely what's been key for me the last year or so. It's definitely going to help a lot, all the experiences I've been lucky enough to have is all going to pay off in the end."
