Rushall Olympic to Host Community Day for Non-League Day with Charity Focus
Rushall Olympic Football Club is set to celebrate Non-League Day this weekend by hosting a special community event in partnership with the mental health charity Caring Minds. The initiative aims to highlight the vital role of grassroots football clubs and their volunteers while raising funds for a crucial cause.
Supporting Mental Health Through Football
The club has teamed up with Caring Minds, a charity dedicated to supporting service users, carers, and staff of the Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (BSMHFT). This partnership underscores the club's commitment to giving back to the local community and addressing important social issues.
Louise John, the charity manager, emphasized the impact of their work, stating, "We are a small charity with a huge reach, striving to deliver a positive impact to our service users and staff." BSMHFT operates across over 50 sites in Birmingham and Solihull, providing a wide range of mental health services, including:
- Crisis and home treatment
- Assertive outreach and early intervention
- Addictions and rehabilitation programs
- Day services and mental health wellbeing support
John added that enhancing a person's visit to BSMHFT can significantly improve their recovery and overall experience.
Event Details and Fundraising Activities
The community day will coincide with Rushall Olympic's Northern Premier League match against Guiseley, where the team is pushing for survival in the league. To encourage attendance, the club is offering reduced admission prices, inviting local residents to support the team and engage with the charitable efforts.
In addition to the match, the event will feature a raffle, an auction of prizes, and a crowd collection, with all proceeds directed towards Caring Minds. Finley Deeley-Brewer, Rushall's operations manager, expressed pride in the partnership, saying, "We are extremely proud and privileged to support a mental health charity that does incredible work across Birmingham and the West Midlands. For us as a club, giving back is a must, and we're delighted to do that alongside Caring Minds on Saturday."
