West Bromwich Albion have been handed a significant boost ahead of their final day Championship clash against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. The Owls will be without their influential Swedish midfielder Svante Inglesson, who has been ruled out due to a knee injury.
Key Player Absent for Sheffield Wednesday
Inglesson, 27, is regarded as one of Sheffield Wednesday's best players and has been linked with a move away from the club this summer. The midfielder shared the Owls' Player of the Year award with Liam Palmer, who received an outstanding achievement accolade for making over 500 appearances for the club. Inglesson missed recent outings with a knee problem, and it was hoped he might return for the season finale, but manager Henrik Pedersen confirmed his absence.
Pedersen told the Sheffield Star: "No, he will not be available. But he will be fit in the next two or three weeks so he can do all what he has to do in the pre-season."
Pedersen Praises Inglesson and Palmer
The Owls boss heaped praise on both players, stating: "Svante and Liam have been two fantastic humans in our group through the whole season. They have been two players who really have made standards for what is okay, what is not okay, and also when things are difficult."
West Brom in Party Mode
West Brom secured their survival earlier and are aiming to extend their unbeaten run to eleven games. A sell-out crowd is expected at Hillsborough, with Baggies fans set to be in party mode. James Morrison's men have been handed this boost ahead of the clash, as Wednesday hope to give their fans something to shout about despite relegation to League One. The Owls have been on minus points for most of the season after going into administration.
Inglesson had been loosely linked with West Brom in January, amid a string of Championship interest, but he has now played his last game for the Owls and looks likely to move on this summer.
