BBC Star Matt Morsia Recalls Gruesome Filming Injury: Bicep 'Hanging Off'
BBC Star's Bicep 'Hanging Off' After Filming Accident

BBC star Matt Morsia has revealed the shocking moment he heard a 'massive rip' before realizing his bicep was 'hanging off' after a gruesome filming accident. The athlete, known as Legend on the rebooted series Gladiators, sustained the injury while filming an episode of the popular show.

The Incident

Appearing on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch alongside Fearne Cotton and Talia Mar, Morsia recounted the harrowing experience. 'I detached my bicep, so it was just hanging off,' he said. The injury occurred when he was 'really high up' and tackling a contender. 'I dived, grabbed the contender but he'd managed to hold on to the big post at the end, so I had flown off and my arm ripped behind me,' Morsia explained. 'I thought I'd ripped his vest off because I heard this massive rip. Turned out, it was just my bicep.'

Recovery and Aftermath

Despite the severity of the injury, Morsia assured fans that he is now recovering well. 'It's all good now,' he said, noting that surgery last year was successful. However, he previously described the aftermath as 'the worst of my life' in a social media post. 'A few weeks ago I tore my distal bicep tendon off the bone whilst filming Gladiators. Surgery went really well and I'm gonna be back in no time because I'm a genetic freak, but I'll be honest and say the last three weeks have easily been the worst of my life,' he wrote. 'I had intense post-operative sickness, didn't eat for 12 days, and lost around 15kg in bodyweight.'

The star added humorously: 'You can watch my YouTube video for more detail, but for now I'm off to eat some pizza and do some 1kg bicep curls.'
