In a disappointing turn of events, Strictly Come Dancing contestant La Voix has been forced to pull out of the highly anticipated Blackpool special this weekend. The drag queen, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, has been advised by doctors to rest due to an injury.
A Devastating Decision for the Performer
The news comes just days after La Voix and her professional dance partner, Aljaz Skorjanec, successfully secured their place in the Blackpool Tower Ballroom show. On Sunday night's results show, the pair earned a respectable 33 points from the judges for their Couple's Choice routine to 'Don't Rain On My Parade'.
Expressing her profound sadness, La Voix stated she is "truly devastated" not to be performing on the iconic dancefloor. She confirmed that an existing foot injury worsened after her appearance last Saturday, leading to the medical advice to withdraw.
What Happens Next for the Couple?
A spokesperson for Strictly Come Dancing confirmed the development. "Due to injury, La Voix has been advised by doctors to rest and, as a result, will not dance in this weekend's Blackpool specials," the representative stated.
In accordance with the show's rules, the couple will be given a bye through to week ten. This means they will automatically progress to the next round of the competition, with the hope that La Voix will have recovered sufficiently to dance again.
La Voix took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message with her fans, promising to come back "louder, brighter and sassier than ever." For now, her focus is entirely on recovery, and she will be cheering on the other couples from the sidelines during the Blackpool event.
