Genesis Partners with Ohme for Exclusive Home EV Charging
In a significant move for electric vehicle owners, the car manufacturer Genesis has announced a new and exclusive partnership with Ohme, the UK's largest home electric-vehicle charging company. This collaboration, revealed on November 29, 2025, is set to make owning and running an electric car more affordable and convenient than ever before.
The deal means that Ohme will become the sole provider of home charging solutions for Genesis customers. This includes supplying the physical charger, managing the installation service, and providing ongoing support, all delivered directly through the Genesis retail network. Genesis retailers will also receive comprehensive training and assistance to ensure a seamless experience for buyers.
How Drivers Can Charge for Less Than £6
The central benefit for consumers lies in the potential for dramatically lower charging costs. Ohme's dynamic EV chargers are a key part of this, as they use live data from the National Grid. These smart chargers are compatible with the UK's most affordable energy tariffs and automatically adjust their operation to capitalise on the cheapest and greenest energy times.
This intelligent technology means that fully charging a new Genesis GV60 with its 84kWh battery could cost as little as £5.88. This price, achievable on a dynamic tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go, provides an impressive 348-mile WLTP range for under six pounds. The chargers also feature a solar boost function, allowing homeowners to reduce their reliance on the grid even further.
A Customer-Centric Approach to EV Ownership
Ashley Andrew, President and CEO of Genesis and Hyundai UK, commented on the partnership, stating, "Ohme’s strong customer service ethos aligns with Genesis’ Son Nim customer centric approach. As a result, we’re delighted to partner with Ohme for the benefit of our customers and our retailer network."
Echoing this sentiment, Peter McDonald, Ohme Director, said, "We’re looking forward to bringing the Ohme benefits of easy charging and low running costs to Genesis customers. With Genesis refreshing its line-up of electric models this year, customers not only have an updated product range to choose from but access to all that Ohme can bring to their ownership experience."
By offering a simple referral scheme for an Ohme home-charging unit, Genesis aims to remove a major hurdle for potential buyers, making the transition to electric vehicle ownership a straightforward process. Ohme's credentials are further solidified by its role as the official charger provider for Hyundai and Motability Operations, the largest fleet operator in the UK, as well as its two awards from Business Motoring.
