Unsettled weather is expected to sweep across the Canary Islands this week, bringing rain, strong winds, and a drop in temperatures. The popular holiday destination, known for its balmy spring climate, will see a shift in conditions starting Tuesday, 12 May.
Weather Change from Tuesday
According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), cloud cover will increase from midday on Tuesday, particularly over the northern and eastern parts of the larger islands. Light and scattered showers are likely in these areas.
Thursday Brings More Instability
The most noticeable change is forecast for Thursday, 14 May, with more unstable winds and overcast skies. AEMET predicts light, scattered, and occasional rain in the northern regions of mountainous islands, though showers could extend to other slopes depending on how the system develops.
Temperatures are expected to dip slightly below the typical mid-May average. Strong south-westerly winds are anticipated across the central peaks of Tenerife, with locally strong gusts and the possibility of very strong gusts at times.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts and take precautions against the changing weather conditions.
