A devastating train crash in southern Spain has left at least ten people dead and hundreds more injured, with passengers reportedly trapped inside mangled carriages.
Collision Details and Emergency Response
The horrific incident occurred near Adamuz in the Andalusia region on the evening of 18 January 2026. According to reports from Sky News, an Iryo-operated high-speed train travelling from Málaga to Madrid-Puerta de Atocha derailed at approximately 19:45 local time.
The train left the tracks, crossed onto an adjacent line, and collided with another high-speed service heading in the opposite direction from Madrid to Huelva. Spanish media sources indicate around 25 people have suffered serious injuries among the hundreds hurt.

Footage shared on social media platform X shows several carriages severely damaged. Rescue workers faced a complex operation to reach passengers trapped inside the wreckage.
In response to the disaster, Spain's rail infrastructure manager, ADIF, has halted all services between Madrid and Andalusia until further notice, causing major national travel disruption.
