TikTok star Spudman, whose real name is Ben Newman, is considering leaving Tamworth for six weeks due to upcoming street works that could cause significant disruption and potentially lead to no customers.
The popular spud van owner took to social media to ask his followers whether he should stay and endure the disruption or hit the road for a six-week tour.
Spudman explained that Tamworth Borough Council has offered him alternative locations, but he questioned their practicality. One option requires him to navigate barriers, while another involves going the wrong way down a one-way street.
Uncertainty Over Timeline
Spudman expressed scepticism about the council's estimated six-week timeline, recalling a previous instance where a promised six-month project stretched to eleven months. He asked, "Do we believe six weeks will be six weeks? Who knows."
He added, "Should I just go on tour for six weeks while they do this?"
Potential Impact on Business
The street works involve ripping up and relaying a square that was laid less than a year ago. Spudman fears the disruption could result in no customers, prompting him to consider a temporary relocation.
Last year, Spudman gained international attention when US singer Teddy Swims visited his van in Tamworth.
Spudman concluded, "You can't believe it, can you? Can't believe it."
