Birmingham Braces for More Rain After Thunderstorm

Birmingham and the Midlands were hit by a severe thunderstorm in the early hours of the morning, with the unsettled weather expected to continue. The city, which had been basking in a heatwave with temperatures reaching 35°C, now faces a shift towards rain.

Met Office Forecast: Showers and Rain Expected

According to the Met Office's long-range forecast for June 1 to June 10, a series of Atlantic weather systems will bring a mix of dry spells and showers or longer periods of rain. Drier conditions are more likely in the south and east, while the west and northwest will see more frequent rain, though with some dry interludes. Temperatures will be near normal, with the warmest areas in the east, and breezy conditions in the northwest.

For June 11 to June 25, the forecast suggests changeable or unsettled weather initially, with Atlantic frontal systems bringing showers or longer spells of rain. From mid-month, high pressure may become more dominant, leading to drier and more settled conditions, though some showers remain possible. Temperatures are expected to rise above average later in the period.
