Birmingham is set for a two-day mini heatwave later in July, according to weather maps from WX Charts. The forecaster's GFS Model has predicted temperatures of 28C on Wednesday, June 17, and Thursday, June 18.
Temperature Threshold Surpassed
These temperatures would surpass the Met Office's threshold for what constitutes a heatwave in the West Midlands, which is 27C. However, an official heatwave requires at least three consecutive days of such temperatures, meaning the upcoming hot spell would be classified as a 'mini heatwave'.
Forecast Details
The Met Office has predicted that temperatures will likely be near to, or a little above normal, in its long-range forecast from June 9 to 18. Weather maps from WX Charts have turned shades of orange and red as temperatures near the 30C mark.
This two-day event is expected to bring sunny conditions to areas such as Oaklands Recreation Ground in Yardley, with locals likely to enjoy the warm weather.
