Teenage Girl Killed in North Yorkshire Minibus Crash, Driver Arrested
Girl, 16-18, dies in Tadcaster minibus and car collision

A schoolgirl has tragically died following a serious road traffic collision involving a minibus carrying nine teenagers in North Yorkshire.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30pm on Monday, 1st December. A white Mercedes Sprinter minibus, which was travelling towards Sherburn, collided with a light-coloured Hyundai i10 car on Toulston Lane in Tadcaster. The Hyundai had entered the lane from Rudgate.

The teenage girl, a passenger in the minibus, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released by authorities.

Injuries and Police Investigation

North Yorkshire Police confirmed the minibus was carrying nine passengers aged between 16 and 18, along with a male driver. Another teenage girl from the minibus was taken to hospital with serious injuries, though these are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

The remaining passengers and the minibus driver were treated in hospital for minor injuries.

A 40-year-old woman, who was driving the Hyundai i10, has been arrested in connection with the incident. The police investigation, under the reference number 12250226227, is ongoing.

Appeal for Witnesses

North Yorkshire Police's Major Collision Investigation Team is urging anyone with information to come forward. They are particularly keen to speak to witnesses or motorists who may have captured dashcam footage of the collision or the moments leading up to it.
