Police are urgently seeking witnesses and dashcam footage following a series of collisions on the M42 motorway in Worcestershire, after a vehicle believed to be involved in the initial incident left the scene before officers arrived.
Chaos on the Motorway Near Redditch
The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between junctions 1 and 2, near Redditch, at around 7.40am on Monday, December 1. Emergency services were called to reports of a collision which then triggered several secondary crashes.
Upon arrival, officers from West Mercia Police discovered that a silver car, suspected of being involved in the first collision, had already departed the area. The force has now launched a public appeal to identify the driver of this vehicle.
Appeal for Crucial Information
In a statement released on Tuesday, December 2, a police spokesperson confirmed the details: "Officers are appealing for information following a multiple vehicle collision on the M42 yesterday morning. - Any motorists who witnessed the collisions.
- Drivers with relevant dashcam footage from the M42 between junctions 1 and 2 around 7.40am on Monday.
