Motorists are facing delays of around 30 minutes following a multi-vehicle crash on the M6 near Wednesbury. The collision occurred on the northbound carriageway between Junction 8 for the M5 and Junction 9 for Wednesbury.
Traffic delays and congestion
National Highways reported just after 12:30 PM that approximately four miles of congestion had built up on approach to the scene. In a statement shared on X, officials confirmed that lanes 2 and 3 of 3 are closed northbound between J8 and J9 due to the incident.
West Midlands Police and traffic officers are currently at the scene managing the situation. The statement added: "Current delays of 30 minutes and 4 miles of congestion on approach."
Driver advice
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and consider alternative routes where possible. The congestion is expected to persist while recovery and investigation work continues.
