Northfield crash: two left with life-threatening injuries

Two people are potentially fighting for their lives after a serious two-car collision in Northfield on Tuesday afternoon, June 30. The crash occurred near the junction of Bristol Road South and Frankley Beeches Road shortly after 4pm, prompting a major emergency response.

Emergency services at the scene

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene. Officers found paramedics already treating a man and a woman. A police spokesperson said: "We were called just after 4pm to the collision which is understood to involve at least two cars. Officers attended and found ambulance colleagues attending to a man and woman who both have potentially life-threatening injuries."

Road closures were put in place, including on Northfield Road and Bristol Road at the junction with Great Stone Street. The roads are expected to remain closed for some time while investigations continue.

Ambulance service response

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "A passing-by ambulance crew came across a road traffic collision at around 4pm on Bristol Road South, Northfield. One further ambulance attended the scene. Ambulance staff found two patients, a man and a woman."

West Midlands Roads reported on X: "Bristol Road South, near junction with Frankley Beeches Road, blocked due to a collision."

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
