Cyclist Fatality in Brownhills
The tragic chain of events began early Friday morning when cyclist Adrian Hudson, 61, collided with a Vauxhall Zafira near the junction of Chester Road North on the A5 in Brownhills. The incident occurred just after 5:30 am on March 20.
Despite receiving immediate medical attention from emergency responders, Mr. Hudson succumbed to his injuries later that evening. West Midlands Police confirmed the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with their ongoing investigation.
A police spokesperson stated: "Our thoughts are with his loved ones and a specialist family support officer will be supporting them at this devastating time. We are keen to hear from anyone with information, particularly anybody who has dashcam footage."
Oldbury Crash Leads to Arrest
Later that same evening, emergency services were called to Newbury Lane in Oldbury just before 11 pm after a Ford Fiesta collided with a lamppost and several parked vehicles. The crash resulted in one man sustaining serious injuries while a second male received wounds described as non-life-threatening.
Police arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs. The suspect was taken to hospital for assessment and will be questioned by investigators in due course.
Quinton Collision Claims Another Life
Tragedy struck again just after midnight on Saturday when a vehicle collided with a tree on Ridgacre Road in Quinton. The male driver suffered fatal injuries in the crash, while a female passenger was transported to hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
West Midlands Police responded to the scene at approximately 12:15 am and confirmed the fatality. Officers emphasized: "Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this devastating time. A woman from the vehicle was taken to hospital with injuries which were not life-threatening."
