A tragic car crash in Kent has claimed the lives of two teenagers and left a third injured, prompting a major police investigation.
Details of the Fatal Collision
Emergency services were called to Old Ferry Road in Iwade, near Sittingbourne, at around 8.30pm on Saturday, 3 January 2026. They arrived to find a blue Ford Fiesta that had left the rural carriageway.
A 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, both occupants of the vehicle, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third person, another 16-year-old girl, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Kent Police have confirmed she has since been discharged.
Emergency Response and Road Closure
The incident triggered a significant multi-agency response. The South East Coast Ambulance Service deployed multiple crews, critical care paramedics, and an air ambulance from The Air Ambulance Charity, Kent Surrey Sussex.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire engines, a technical rescue unit, and a water safety unit to the location. The road was closed between Raspberry Hill Lane and Sheppey Way for investigation work, with the closure remaining in place throughout Sunday.
Floral tributes have since been placed at the roadside in memory of the two young people who lost their lives.
