Sheffield AI Firm IntelliAM Acquires Scottish Partner RBM in Strategic £25,000 Deal

In a significant move to strengthen its foothold in Scotland's industrial heartland, Yorkshire-based asset management specialist IntelliAM has completed the acquisition of Scottish maintenance partner RBM Lubrications & Monitoring Solutions. The deal, valued at £25,000, marks a formal consolidation of a relationship that has spanned over seven years between the two companies.

Strategic Expansion into Scotland's Central Belt

The acquisition positions Sheffield's IntelliAM firmly within the central belt of Scotland, a region recognized as a crucial hub for UK manufacturing. As part of the transaction, seven employees from RBM Lubrications have transferred to IntelliAM, alongside engineering assets and vehicles. RBM founder Brian Sarginson has joined IntelliAM as vice president of IntelliAM Scotland, bringing his expertise to the expanded operation.

Tom Clayton, CEO of IntelliAM, emphasized the strategic importance of this step. "We are delighted to formalise our long-standing relationship with RBM through this acquisition," he stated. "Having worked closely together for over seven years, this is a natural and strategically important step for both businesses. It strengthens our presence in the central belt of Scotland and enhances our ability to deploy IntelliAM's advanced Intelligent Asset Management solutions at scale."

Financial Structure and Business Impact

The deal is structured as a deferred consideration, with cash payable at the end of 2029. RBM Lubrications reported revenues of £648,331 for the year ended July 31, 2025, and was profitable. IntelliAM, which itself has a turnover of £3.2 million, anticipates the acquisition will be modestly accretive to its full-year 2027 profit and is expected to contribute positively to margins and profitability over time.

Brian Sarginson, now vice president of IntelliAM Scotland, expressed enthusiasm about the merger. "Having partnered with IntelliAM for many years, I am pleased to be joining the Group at such an exciting stage in its development," he said. "This transaction brings together deep domain expertise in lubrication and reliability with IntelliAM's cutting-edge AI capabilities. I believe this combination will deliver substantial value to customers across Scotland and beyond."

Growth Trajectory and Future Prospects

IntelliAM specializes in industrial asset management systems powered by AI, and this acquisition is seen as a key step in scaling its solutions. The company aims to drive improved productivity and asset reliability for industrial customers in Scotland through advanced AI applications. This move follows IntelliAM's expansion into the building products sector last year, where it secured new contracts with major firms like Marshalls, Tarmac, H+H, and Knauf in both the UK and Japan.

The integration of RBM's team and assets is expected to bolster IntelliAM's service offerings, combining traditional maintenance expertise with innovative technology to create a robust platform for growth in the region and potentially beyond.
