December 2025: 10 Major Product Recalls from Next, M&S, B&M and More
10 Major Product Recalls in December 2025

December 2025 has seen a significant wave of product safety alerts, with the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) issuing numerous recalls across major UK high street retailers. From potential fire hazards to chemical risks, a wide array of products, including cosmetics, home furnishings, and children's toys, have been pulled from shelves in the final month of the year.

Electrical and Fire Hazard Recalls

Several of the most serious recalls involve products posing a risk of fire or electric shock. Belkin's BoostCharge and Playa USB-C Power Banks, identified by multiple barcodes including 745883797622 and 745883806751, have been recalled. The OPSS warns of a risk of fire as the lithium-ion batteries can overheat during use.

Similarly, George Home Square Seat Pads, sold by Asda between 2020 and 2025, have been recalled due to a fire risk. In the realm of seasonal items, Marks and Spencer's Neon Candles (codes including 8050M and 8049M) are subject to a recall because they may flare up while burning. A significant electrical item recall involves the B&Q GoodHome Saturnia Electric Blanket (barcode 5059340980560), sold between November 2024 and December 2025, which presents a risk of both fire and electric shock.

Health and Injury Risks: From Cosmetics to Children's Toys

The recalls extend to personal care items and goods that could cause physical injury. The Wet n Wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner (barcode 4049775587527) has been withdrawn due to a serious chemical risk. Testing found it contained 11.5% Carbon Black (nano) pigment, exceeding the 10% legal limit for cosmetics.

There is also a microbiological risk associated with Yepoda The Cocoa Cloud Body Butter included in the brand's 2025 Advent Calendar (barcode 8721154343752, batch SR335). For children, the Orchard Toys Jungle Heads & Tails set (batch codes SP/001639/058/17.03.25) has been recalled due to a serious choking hazard.

Two separate recalls concern tableware that may crack. B&M's Cream and Green Mug, sold between 23 August and 14 November 2025, poses a burn risk as the base may crack when filled with hot liquid. Marks and Spencer's Kelly Hoppen Debossed Cappuccino Cups also present a risk of injuries and burns as they may crack or break unexpectedly.

Homeware and Immediate Action for Consumers

Further recalls impact home lighting and furnishings. On December 24, a notice was issued for Next's Cora 5LT Flush light fittings (item number M26835, sold since December 2021). The OPSS states the glass globes may detach during use, potentially striking someone below and shattering, causing injuries. The product fails to meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.

The OPSS advises consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products to stop using them immediately. They should follow the specific instructions provided in each recall notice, which typically involve returning the item to the place of purchase for a full refund. Checking product barcodes, batch codes, or model numbers against the official recall lists is crucial for ensuring safety at home.
