Greggs Debuts New 'Bitesize' Store Format
The UK's beloved bakery chain, Greggs, has officially launched a brand new store concept as part of its ongoing high street expansion. Dubbed 'Bitesize Greggs', this innovative format features smaller branches designed to serve customers in high-footfall locations, starting with a recently opened shop at Sevenoaks Railway Station.
A 'Small But Mighty' Rollout
The first of these compact stores opened its doors on Friday, November 7. This initial launch is set to be followed by the opening of two additional Bitesize Greggs outlets within the next month, located at Dartford Station in Kent and Cheshire Oaks. The new Sevenoaks branch will operate seven days a week, offering a curated selection of the chain's most popular products.
This strategic move forms a key part of a trial within Greggs' broader expansion programme. The company, which already boasts a massive estate of over 2,600 branches across the nation, remains on track to open an impressive 120 new stores by the end of 2025.
Strategic Locations and Future Plans
Greggs bosses have strategically positioned these new Bitesize shops in areas considered prime locations, with a particular focus on travel hubs that benefit from a constant stream of people on the go.
Tony Rowson, Property Director at Greggs, commented on the launch, stating: "We're excited to announce the launch of our Bitesize Greggs concept. This small but mighty new format will allow us to reach more customers on the go from compact units, whilst still offering a selection of our best-selling products. The rollout of Bitesize Greggs, initially on a trial basis, will support our broader estate growth plans."
The announcement of this new store format coincides with the highly anticipated return of the Festive Bake to Greggs shelves across the UK, including Birmingham. The seasonal pastry, filled with chicken, sage and onion stuffing and sweetcure bacon in a creamy sage and cranberry sauce, is priced at £2.10 or as part of a Bake and Drink Deal from £3.55.
