Greggs Launches New 'Bitesize' Stores in UK Expansion Drive
Greggs Opens New Compact 'Bitesize' Stores

Iconic high street bakery chain Greggs is rolling out a brand new, smaller store format designed to bring its famous sausage rolls and sweet treats to busy commuter hubs and high-footfall areas across the UK.

A 'Small But Mighty' New Concept

The new Bitesize Greggs concept officially launched with its first shop opening at Sevenoaks Railway Station on Friday, November 7th. This innovative format is specifically created for locations where space is at a premium, allowing the bakery giant to serve customers in compact, efficient units.

Tony Rowson, Greggs' Property Director, expressed his excitement about the launch, stating: "This small but mighty new format will allow us to reach more customers on the go from compact units, whilst still offering a selection of our best-selling products."

Confirmed Locations and Expansion Plans

The initial trial will see two more Bitesize stores open in December. The confirmed locations are:

  • Dartford Station in Kent
  • Cheshire Oaks

This strategic move is part of Greggs' broader, ambitious expansion programme. The company, which currently operates 2,675 shops nationwide, has committed to opening 120 new locations in 2025. The ultimate goal is to grow its estate to 3,500 shops across the country.

What This Means for Customers

For shoppers and commuters, the Bitesize rollout promises a quicker and more convenient way to grab a morning coffee, a lunchtime sandwich, or an afternoon pastry without deviating from their daily route. The compact stores will stock a curated selection of Greggs' most popular items, including pastries, sandwiches, and hot drinks.

If the trial at these initial sites proves successful, customers can expect to see more of these convenient, space-saving Greggs outlets popping up in railway stations, retail parks, and other bustling hubs throughout the UK.
