Residents of Birmingham can now enjoy the iconic taste of Ikea's Swedish meatballs from the comfort of their own sofas, as the retailer launches a brand-new food delivery and click & collect service.
How the new Ikea food service works
This pilot initiative, running from the Ikea store in Wednesbury, allows customers to order a significant 80 per cent of the Swedish Food Market range. This includes the famous meatballs, plant balls, pantry staples, and frozen favourites like Daim cake and cinnamon buns.
Shoppers can place orders via the Ikea app by selecting the Birmingham store or through the desktop website. A minimum order value of £15 applies, but as an introductory offer, delivery is currently free.
Delivery windows and member benefits
The service operates during specific time slots: from 4pm to 7pm, Tuesday to Friday, and from 7.30am to 10.30am on Saturday. Sunday operations are split between 7.30am to 10.30am and 2pm to 5pm.
Orders can be scheduled up to 7 days in advance for maximum convenience. The delivery radius covers an area within approximately 10 miles or a 20-minute drive from the store.
Ikea Family Members who use the service will receive a ‘£10 off £60’ voucher to spend on home furnishing accessories, adding extra value to their shop.
Bringing a taste of Sweden to Brummies
All deliveries will be managed directly by the Ikea delivery team, ensuring products are handled with the same care customers experience in-store.
Karen Hughes, Country Food Manager for IKEA UK and Ireland, said: “This new delivery service is all about making it easier for our customers to enjoy their favourite IKEA food products when and where it suits them. Whether it’s our famous meatballs or other signature items, we’re delighted to bring a little taste of Sweden directly to homes in Birmingham.”
