Lidl's UK Christmas First: Limited Turkey Wine Sells for Charity
Lidl launches UK-first Turkey Wine for Christmas dinner

Lidl has announced a festive first for the UK supermarket sector, launching a special wine created specifically to accompany the traditional Christmas turkey dinner.

A Festive First for Rosé Lovers

The budget retailer, which rivals chains like Aldi, Tesco, and Sainsbury's, has introduced a limited-edition rosé dubbed 'Turkey Wine'. Designed to answer the perennial holiday question of what to drink with roast turkey, the supermarket claims it will give Christmas dinner "the glow-up you didn’t know it needed".

However, shoppers will need to be quick to secure a bottle. Lidl has confirmed that only 500 bottles of this exclusive tipple have been produced for the UK market. Priced at just £6.49, the supermarket has pledged that all proceeds from the sale will be donated to charity.

Expertly Crafted for the Christmas Table

The wine has received the endorsement of Lidl’s own Master of Wine, Richard Bampfield. He explained the thinking behind the unique pairing: “Roast turkey calls for a wine with enough body to cope with all the trimmings, yet not so rich that it dominates the delicate flavours of the meat.”

Bampfield adds that this rosé "fits the bill perfectly and will make a satisfying and highly refreshing accompaniment." Lidl describes the taste profile as offering stone fruit notes with a subtle hint of fresh herbs, comparing its elegance and freshness to a Côtes de Provence rosé but at a much lower price point.

Beyond the Main Event

Lidl promises that the wine's appeal extends beyond the main event on December 25th. The retailer suggests it is versatile enough to pair just as well with Boxing Day turkey sandwiches, making it a useful addition throughout the holiday period.

Produced in a renowned rosé region of France, Lidl bills the drink as "more than just a pretty pour", stating it has the structure to complement pigs in blankets, stuffing, and roast potatoes while remaining bright enough to cut through richer, creamy sides like bread sauce. With only a few hundred bottles available, this charitable Christmas novelty is set to be a highly sought-after festive item.
