As the festive season approaches, Carmarthenshire Council has launched its heartwarming 2025 Christmas Toybox Appeal, aiming to ensure no child in the county wakes up without a gift on Christmas morning.
Spreading Festive Cheer to Families in Need
The annual initiative, now in full swing, encourages residents, businesses, and community groups to donate new, unwrapped toys and gifts for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. The council is working closely with local organisations to identify families who would benefit most from this generous community support.
How You Can Make a Difference
The council has made donating incredibly straightforward with multiple drop-off points established across Carmarthenshire. Suggested donations include:
- New, unwrapped toys for all age groups
- Books, games, and educational materials
- Gift vouchers for older children and teenagers
- Toiletries and gift sets for young adults
Council Leader Cllr Darren Price emphasised the importance of community spirit, stating: "The Christmas Toybox Appeal represents the very best of Carmarthenshire - communities coming together to support those who need it most. Every donation, no matter how small, can make a massive difference to a child's Christmas experience."
Building on Previous Success
Last year's appeal saw an overwhelming response from the community, with thousands of gifts distributed to children across the county. The council hopes to build on this success and reach even more families during what can be a financially challenging time of year.
Collection points have been established in council offices, libraries, and participating businesses throughout Carmarthenshire. The appeal will run until mid-December, allowing sufficient time for gifts to be sorted and distributed before Christmas Day.
