Incident Details

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after a woman was found injured in Sandwell Valley Country Park following a sexual assault. The incident occurred on Monday, June 29, when officers responded to reports of a woman in distress at approximately 10:15 am.

According to police, the woman had been sexually assaulted and items were taken from her during the ordeal. Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene and transported the woman to a hospital for assessment. She has since been discharged and is receiving support from specially trained officers.

Police Response

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: "We're investigating after a woman was found injured in Sandwell Valley Country Park, at around 10:15am yesterday (June 29). Enquiries are at an early stage, but we believe the woman had been sexually assaulted, and items were taken from her. She was taken to hospital for assessment and has since been discharged and she is being supported by specially trained officers as we work to establish what happened and who was responsible."

The force acknowledged the public's concern, adding: "We know this is a concerning incident and our officers remain in the area as enquiries continue." Police are urging anyone with information or who was in the area at the time to contact them on 101, quoting log 1483 of June 29.

Ambulance Service Statement

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed: "We responded to Park Lane, West Bromwich following concerns for the welfare of a woman. One ambulance responded to the scene and she was conveyed to hospital for further checks."

Previous Incident at the Park

This incident comes just days after the body of a woman was recovered from a pool at the same park on Saturday, June 27. However, West Midlands Police previously stated that death was not being treated as suspicious and that they would liaise with the coroner.
