Christian Aid Cymru Recruits Team for 2026 Cardiff Half Marathon
Christian Aid Cymru is actively building its team for the upcoming 2026 Cardiff Half Marathon, scheduled for later this year, and is calling for more runners to join this charitable cause. The event, set to take place on October 4, stands as one of Europe's largest half marathons and Wales' premier mass participation and multi-charity fundraising occasion, with an anticipated turnout of over 27,500 participants.
Charity Places and Fundraising Goals
The organization still has a limited number of charity places available and warmly welcomes runners who have secured their own ballot entries to represent Christian Aid Cymru. The funds generated by the team will be directed toward supporting projects implemented by local partners in some of the world's most vulnerable communities.
These initiatives include emergency aid during crises, as well as long-term development programs such as community kitchens, urban gardens, assistance for individuals fleeing conflict, and counselling services for survivors of sexual violence.
Empowering Communities Through Partnership
Mari McNeill, head of Christian Aid Cymru, elaborated on the organization's approach: "We collaborate with local organizations and charities to ensure we empower communities and work alongside them to address the challenges they encounter. This partnership model strengthens our impact, a fact vividly demonstrated annually at the Cardiff Half Marathon."
She added, "Every member of Team Christian Aid supports one another, whether they are running or cheering from the sidelines. The collective fundraising efforts of this team lead to significant, positive changes in the lives of people across the globe."
How to Get Involved
To participate as a runner with Christian Aid Cymru, individuals can visit the organization's website to register their interest. For those who already have a secured place and wish to raise funds for the cause, simply sending an email to wales@christian-aid.org is sufficient.
Additionally, volunteers are encouraged to join the cheerleading squad, with no special skills like handstands required, making it an accessible way to contribute to the event's vibrant atmosphere.
