Homebuilder Donates £3,000 to Homeless Charity

Barratt and David Wilson Homes has made a significant donation of £3,000 to Falcon Support Services, a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of homeless and vulnerable individuals. This contribution is part of The Barratt Redrow Foundation, which aims to leave a lasting legacy in communities where the housebuilder operates.

Supporting a Vital Mission

Falcon Support Services works tirelessly to reconnect people who are often excluded from society. This includes individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental health issues, learning difficulties, social isolation, poverty, and those transitioning from care, prison, or the armed forces. The charity provides safe, high-quality accommodation and supportive environments to help people move towards independence.

Essential Life Skills and Community Integration

Beyond housing, the charity equips individuals with essential life skills, enabling them to integrate into the community and build stable, fulfilling futures. Rachel Hall, Deputy CEO of Falcon Support Services, expressed her gratitude for the donation, stating, "When Barratt and David Wilson Homes got in touch to say we had been chosen to receive the donation, it felt amazing knowing someone had suggested us for the funding."

She emphasized the importance of such support, noting, "Donations like these are crucial as we have faced 16 years of cuts, change, and financial challenge. Over these years, the support of the community and businesses have provided a vital lifeline to keep our services going."

Addressing Stigma and Discrimination

Hall also highlighted the daily discrimination and stigma faced by the homeless community and those struggling with addiction. "Often the homeless community and those struggling with addiction face daily discrimination, stigma and are excluded from society as people wrongly assume it is 'their fault' and not a lifetime of trauma, as it so often is," she explained.

She added, "When companies take the time to invest in their community it is heartwarming to see the care and thought behind them. A Community Fund scheme like this can make a big difference and we are so grateful for the support."

Impactful Services and Statistics

Falcon Support Services operates 110 bed spaces across 33 properties in three counties, primarily helping people experiencing homelessness in Leicestershire move towards independent living. Over the past three years, the charity has achieved remarkable results:

  • Supported 1,866 people with recovery
  • Accommodated 668 individuals
  • Delivered nearly 29,000 drop-in visits
  • Held 5,300 wellbeing sessions
  • Served over 78,000 meals
  • Enabled 6,550 people to access digital support

Comprehensive Support Services

The charity's drop-in service offers food, welfare advice, and essential facilities to reduce isolation and prevent repeat homelessness. Additionally, a rough sleeper service provides lockers, clothing, showers, and laundry facilities. Falcon Support Services collaborates with key health partners to address physical and mental health needs, while its harm-reduction team offers non-judgemental addiction support and clear pathways into treatment and recovery.

The Barratt Redrow Foundation's Legacy

The £3,000 donation from Barratt and David Wilson Homes will fund three additional emergency beds, taking rough sleepers off the streets and initiating their journey towards life transformation. The charity also assists individuals in accessing health and financial services and securing longer-term accommodation.

Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, commented, "We are incredibly proud to support Falcon Support Services. Its commitment to helping people rebuild their lives is truly inspiring and we're honoured that our partnership can help strengthen and sustain the vital work they do every day."

Foundation's Fifth Anniversary

The Barratt Redrow Foundation is celebrating its fifth anniversary in 2026. Since its inception, the foundation has committed £20 million to charities and good causes, supported over 2,000 different charities, and is estimated to have directly impacted 100,000 young people each year. This donation to Falcon Support Services exemplifies the foundation's ongoing commitment to making a positive difference in local communities across the UK.
