Lebanese Teacher Shares Delicacies and Global Greetings with Rhyl Rotary Club
During a recent business meeting, the Rotary Club of Rhyl received a special visit from Imane Achcar, a teacher originally from Lebanon. Ms Achcar not only impressed the club with her dedication to supporting international charities but also presented a generous gift of traditional Lebanese delicacies, including baklava, maamoul, and knefeh. These treats, renowned for their unique flavours and aromatic spices, were enjoyed alongside coffee, adding a cultural touch to the gathering.
Warm Welcome and Charitable Praise
Imane Achcar expressed her gratitude for the warm reception, stating, "I am very grateful for the warm welcome that I have received and I am so impressed with the range of charitable activities which the club supports." She also acknowledged the club's centenary year, extending well-wishes on behalf of Rotary clubs in Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates, where she currently teaches. Her visit highlighted the interconnectedness of Rotary's global network, fostering cross-cultural exchanges and shared humanitarian goals.
Rotary's Universal Mission for Peace and Support
Gareth Wynne Jones, the club's vice-president, commented on the significance of such international interactions. He said, "It has been our pleasure to welcome Imane and we shall certainly enjoy her gift. Many people do not realise that there are Rotary Clubs based in most countries around the world." He emphasized Rotary's non-political and non-religious approach, adding, "Whatever the location, we work with our local and international communities to try to help and support wherever and whenever we see need. 'Rotary and peace the world over' has always been our collective wish and this is stated and reinforced at every Rotary meeting." This underscores the club's commitment to global peace and community assistance, aligning with its centenary celebrations.
To further engage the public, the Rotary Club of Rhyl encourages residents to explore their activities through the club website or by visiting Rhyl Library on Church Street, where a display showcases the club's promoted initiatives. This event serves as a reminder of Rotary's enduring impact in fostering goodwill and support across borders.
