Northorpe Trust's Festive Fayre: Free Family Fun in Mirfield
Northorpe's Festive Fayre: Free Family Day Out

The Northorpe Child + Family Trust is set to launch the festive season with a spectacular free event for the local community. Their annual Festive Fayre promises a day packed with joy, entertainment, and community spirit, all dedicated to supporting children and young people across Kirklees and West Yorkshire.

A Day of Festive Fun and Activities

Set against the backdrop of Northorpe Hall in Mirfield, the fayre will run on Saturday, November 29, from 11am to 3pm. Admission is completely free, making it an accessible day out for all. Visitors can explore a wonderful array of stalls offering everything from unique gifts and sweet treats to cakes and even reindeer food. For those seeking hands-on entertainment, there will be face painting, three separate tombolas, a special storytime session, and the ever-popular Santa’s Grotto.

Adding an extra layer of enchantment, the Born Explorers Forest School will be hosting festive nature-themed activities outdoors, ensuring children have a truly magical experience.

Feast, Music, and Community Spirit

No community event is complete without great food and music, and the Festive Fayre delivers on both fronts. The on-site Northorpe Barn will be serving up delicious festive fare including jacket potatoes with seasonal toppings, hot dogs, and pigs in blankets. For those with a bigger appetite, the renowned Greedy Little Pig will be back with their famous hog roast.

The sound of the season will be provided by a live choir and other musical performances, creating a cheerful and celebratory atmosphere. The event is also powered by the charity's own Community Voice and Youth Voice volunteers, who will be running stalls, sharing information about the Trust's vital work, and spreading festive cheer.

Supporting a Broader Christmas Campaign

This year's Fayre is a key part of the wider Northorpe Christmas campaign. The initiative also features the Holiday Hampers Appeal, which is now in its tenth year. This important appeal supports care leavers across Kirklees, helping them celebrate their first independent Christmas with festive treats and essential winter items.

Dipika Kaushal, CEO of Northorpe Child + Family Trust, shared her enthusiasm: “Our Christmas Campaign is always a highlight of the year. It’s a day where our whole community comes together - families, volunteers, and local businesses - to celebrate Christmas while helping make the season brighter for young people who might otherwise feel forgotten.”

Ahead of the event, the charity is appealing for donations to aid their fundraising efforts. They are seeking items such as bottles (from shampoo to champagne), chocolate, sweets, cakes, biscuits, and gift vouchers. Donations should be delivered to Northorpe Hall by Wednesday, November 26, during working hours.
