Crown and Anchor Pub Raises £1,953.75 for Ashgate Hospice in Memory of Jill Parsley
Pub raises nearly £2k for hospice in memory of landlady's grandma

A Chesterfield pub has rallied its community to raise a significant sum for a local hospice, honouring the memory of a beloved family member and dedicated former nurse.

A Community United in Memory

The Crown and Anchor pub on Sheffield Road successfully raised £1,953.75 for Ashgate Hospice. The fundraising drive was organised by pub operator Kirsty Longmate in memory of her late grandmother, Jill Parsley. Jill, who passed away aged 81, spent her working life as a nurse caring for the elderly and people with disabilities. She received care from the hospice in the final stages of her life, an experience that inspired her granddaughter to give back.

Local Talent and Generosity Fuel Success

The community response was immediate and overwhelming. Three local music acts—Adonis Blue, Saving Souls, and Phil Jester—offered to perform for free, drawing in crowds and boosting the charitable atmosphere. A major raffle featuring 40 prizes encouraged locals to dig deep, while a fun game of 'Guess the Reindeer's Name' (won by a guest who correctly identified it as Belle) added to the donations. The event showcased the powerful spirit of local charity work in Chesterfield.

A Lasting Legacy of Care

Kirsty Longmate expressed her profound gratitude, stating the event was a prime example of what makes their community brilliant. She highlighted the importance of the care her grandmother received and the desire to thank the hospice for its incredible work. The pub, located at 143 Sheffield Road, plans to build on this success with more community-focused fundraising events in the future. For details on upcoming events, visit the pub's official website.
