Quiz Night Triumph Raises Vital Funds
The Sunshine Fund is celebrating a hugely successful Question of Sport quiz and dinner, which saw months of meticulous planning come to fruition. The event attracted a crowd of over 250 guests, creating a fantastic community atmosphere focused on raising both awareness and crucial money for the small charity.
Thanks to raffle ticket sales, a competitive auction, and various games, the night generated an incredible £14,500. The charity has confirmed that 100% of these funds will remain in the region, directly supporting local families. This money will contribute towards £35,500 worth of essential equipment recently approved by the charity's panel for distribution.
Magical Evenings and New Partnerships
While the quiz night was in full swing, some of the charity's Sunshine Families were treated to a magical night out at the Utilita Arena watching Disney On Ice. This special experience, made possible by a generous donation of 40 tickets from Bellway Homes, included a behind-the-scenes touch tour where children could feel real props and costumes.
The festive season also brings a new corporate partnership. Meat:Stack has named The Sunshine Fund its charity partner for the year. A donation of £1 from every festive burger and £2 from every festive tray sold will come directly to the charity, turning a meal into meaningful support.
Join the Festive Fun and Double Your Donation
The charity is now launching headfirst into Christmas with its popular FREE, fully accessible Santa Grotto Bus. In partnership with Stagecoach Slatyford for the seventh year running, the bus will be stationed in Newcastle City Centre on Friday, December 5. No booking is required, ensuring everyone can meet Santa regardless of budget or need.
The same day also marks the charity's Festive Friday, an accessible alternative to Christmas Jumper Day. Participants are encouraged to wear something festive and donate £2.
For those wishing to support financially, the Big Give Christmas Challenge runs from December 2 to 9. All donations made via the platform during this week will be doubled at no extra cost. The charity is also seeking volunteers to help with bucket collections at the Santa Bus, offering a chance to become a Santa's helper for the day.
