Record-Breaking Charity Event Set for Gosforth Park
The Sunshine Fund is finalising preparations for its most ambitious event yet - the highly anticipated Question of Sport quiz and dinner taking place next Thursday at The Grand Hotel, Gosforth Park. This signature event has achieved a remarkable milestone, selling a record number of tables for this year's edition.
A Night of Entertainment and Philanthropy
Attendees from various local organisations will experience an engaging evening featuring an interactive quiz with themed rounds. Beyond testing their sports knowledge, guests can participate in multiple fundraising activities including:
- Purchasing raffle tickets for exciting prizes
- Bidding in a silent auction for unique experiences
- Playing games like darts, golf and 'Hit and Miss' with awards for winners
While offering excellent networking opportunities for regional businesses, the evening's primary purpose remains raising maximum funds to support children living with disabilities, additional needs and terminal illness across the North East.
Beyond the Quiz: Christmas Initiatives Launching
Following the sports quiz, the charity will immediately transition into Christmas fundraising activities. On Friday, December 5, they launch 'Festive Friday' - an accessible alternative to Christmas Jumper Day where participants can wear anything from festive socks to full elf outfits while donating £2.
The charity also announced their Big Give Christmas Challenge running from December 2-9, where all donations will be matched, effectively doubling their impact. Additionally, volunteers can register for the Santa Grotto Bus initiative in Newcastle City Centre, providing free grotto experiences for all ages and needs.
All proceeds from these events will directly fund specialised equipment that significantly improves the lives of North East children with diverse needs, ensuring every pound raised stays within the region to create meaningful local impact.
