Salvation Army Urges West Wales to Donate Toys for Children's Christmas
West Wales Christmas Toy Appeal for Needy Children

The Salvation Army is making an urgent plea to residents across West Wales, asking them to share love and hope this festive season by contributing new, unwrapped toys to its annual Christmas Present Appeal.

Bringing Joy to Families Facing Hardship

Each year, the charitable church and organisation launches this vital campaign to collect gifts for children from families who are forced to make impossible decisions between paying for essential food, heating, and household bills. Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Roberts, the leader of The Salvation Army in Wales, emphasised the profound impact of the appeal.

"Christmas is a time of love and celebration, but for many households it's a time when financial worries are brought into sharp focus for families who are struggling to heat their homes, let alone provide presents for their children," he stated.

He further explained that the Christmas Present Appeal allows the community to directly support those who may enjoy very few comforts. It is a practical way to put their belief into action and show love where it is needed most.

How and Where to Donate New Gifts

The Salvation Army churches in Llanelli, Carmarthen, and Swansea will act as collection points for the public's generous donations. The organisation has specified that all donated toys should be new and left unwrapped. These gifts will then be distributed to children and families throughout the local area via partnerships with community groups, schools, and social services.

A wide range of gift ideas is welcomed to cater for children of all ages. The list includes:

  • Educational toys and learn-to-read books for babies and toddlers
  • Dolls, action figures, and sports equipment
  • Baby clothes, T-shirts, gloves, scarves, and hats
  • Bath toys, hair accessories, and other general clothing items

For older children, the appeal also welcomes the donation of gift vouchers.

Partnering with The Entertainer for Double the Impact

In addition to dropping off gifts directly at churches, the public can support the cause through The Entertainer's Big Toy Appeal, which runs until November 29.

Customers visiting a store or shopping online at TheToyShop.com are encouraged to purchase an extra toy to donate. In a fantastic boost, for each toy donated by a customer, The Entertainer will add another one, effectively doubling the number of gifts for children who might otherwise go without.

Each Entertainer store in Wales works in close partnership with its local Salvation Army branch, which will collect and distribute all the donated toys.

Lieutenant Colonel Roberts expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am always overwhelmed by the generosity of people in Wales in supporting our appeal each year and we hope to ensure every child wakes up on Christmas Day with a smile on their face."
