Eglwyswrw Young Farmers Raise £2000 for Wales Air Ambulance
Young Farmers donate £2000 to Wales Air Ambulance

Members of a north Pembrokeshire young farmers club have presented a generous £2,000 donation to the Wales Air Ambulance following a successful year of community fundraising activities.

A Year of Dedicated Fundraising

The Eglwyswrw Young Farmers Club organised numerous events throughout the year to raise funds for the vital emergency service. Their creative fundraising efforts included an Easter car treasure hunt, quiz nights, fireworks nights and a popular tractor run that brought the local community together.

Last year, club chairman Rhodri Vaughan selected the Wales Air Ambulance as the official charity that Eglwyswrw Young Farmers Club would support throughout his term. While raising crucial funds for the lifesaving service, members also fundraised to support their own club's activities.

Personal Connection to the Cause

The club maintains a particularly close connection to the air ambulance service, as two current members are past patients who have directly benefited from the charity's emergency medical care. This personal experience highlighted how essential the service is to rural communities across Wales.

Sophie Howard from Eglwyswrw YFC expressed the club's enthusiasm for their achievement, stating: "We were absolutely delighted as a club to be able to present £2,000 to the Wales Air Ambulance Charity. Throughout the year, we organised a variety of fun events."

Continuing Support for Vital Service

This isn't the first time the dedicated young farmers have supported the all-Wales charity. Back in 2015, they raised an impressive £3,500, meaning their total contribution to the service now stands at £5,500 over the years.

Mike May, Wales Air Ambulance regional fundraising manager for Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, recently visited the club to receive the donation and speak with members about their fundraising activities.

He expressed his gratitude, saying: "A huge thank you to all the members at the Eglwyswrw Young Farmers Club, they've once again raised an incredible amount for the Charity. The members have a close link to our Charity because two of them are past patients, which brings home how vital our service is in this country."

The Wales Air Ambulance provides consultant-led emergency care, bringing hospital-standard treatments directly to patients across Wales. The service requires £13 million in annual donations to maintain its fleet of helicopters and rapid response vehicles that serve communities throughout the country.
