Oddfellows Group Launches Spring Social Events to Connect North Wales and Chester Residents

The North Wales and Chester Oddfellows friendship group is encouraging local residents to embrace the arrival of spring by participating in its new season of social activities. Designed to help people meet new friends and discover the beauty of the local area, the group has planned a variety of events, from scenic walks and day trips to relaxed get-togethers, throughout the spring months.

Building Connections Through Shared Activities

Caroline Davey, the Branch Social Organiser, emphasised that groups like the North Wales and Chester Oddfellows provide an excellent opportunity for individuals to connect with others who share similar interests. "There are so many incredible spots right on our doorstep, and as the days get brighter, it's the perfect time to get out and enjoy them," said Caroline. "For many people, it can be hard to find others who enjoy the same activities, whether that's going for a walk, visiting a local café, or simply getting out and about for the afternoon. Our group gives people the chance to do those things together."

She described the Oddfellows as a friendly and down-to-earth community that warmly welcomes newcomers. "Often a simple walk or lunch can turn into a really enjoyable afternoon when you're sharing it with others," Caroline added.

Spring Event Highlights and Member Testimonials

The North Wales and Chester Oddfellows has approximately 450 members, primarily older adults, who regularly gather in locations such as Saltney, Wrexham, Llandudno, and Anglesey. Their activities include walks, day trips, meals at local restaurants, coffee mornings, games, and quizzes.

Upcoming spring events open to all include:

  • Regular coffee mornings
  • Lunch at Panda Mami in Chester on April 17 at 1pm
  • A walk along the River Dee on Thursday, May 7, meeting by Saltney Syd in Saltney at 11:30am, with refreshments at The Old Chapel Café halfway through
  • A coach trip to the National Memorial Arboretum on Tuesday, June 9

Jackie, a member of the group, shared her positive experience: "I've lived in North Wales for years, but since joining the group, I've been shown so many hidden gems right under my nose. It's given me a completely different perspective on where I live, and I always come home feeling energised. There's something special about exploring a new walk or trying an amazing café or restaurant that you haven't been to before when you're surrounded by good people. And the best part is that I've made genuine friends here."
