New figures reveal how hard your local councillor has worked for you in Walsall. Councillor Simran Cheema and Councillor Suky Samra's casework figures form more than a quarter of all enquiries from all 60 members.

Every resident in Walsall has three ward councillors who act as a bridge between them and Walsall Council. As councillors, it is their duty to raise enquiries for matters such as antisocial behaviour, issues with roads, waste management and more.

For this role, every councillor was compensated a basic rate of £13,887 for the year 2025/26. Freedom of Information figures have revealed the number of enquiries submitted by each member between February 2025 and February 2026.

Top Performers

Coming in at number one is Councillor Simran Cheema, Willenhall South ward, with 492 enquiries raised. The second highest performing member was Councillor Suky Samra in the Streetly ward with 289 enquiries raised. Councillor Samra is not listed below as he is not standing for re-election on May 7. He was deselected by the Aldridge Brownhills Conservative Association, the reason for which was never confirmed.

Councillor Cheema and Councillor Samra's casework combined makes up more than a quarter of all enquiries submitted by all 60 councillors.
