Police have made a significant seizure of cash and drugs following a vehicle stop on the M6 motorway, highlighting their ongoing crackdown on criminal activity using the road network.
Major Cash and Drug Bust on Motorway
On November 3, officers from the Central Motorway Police Group spotted a car being driven erratically near Stafford. The vehicle was ordered to stop, leading to the discovery of a substantial amount of cash and illegal substances.
Upon searching the car, police found £100,000 in cash alongside a quantity of Class A drugs, suspected to be cocaine. A 35-year-old woman from London was subsequently arrested at the scene.
She was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a controlled Class A drug and acquiring, using, or possessing criminal property. The suspect has since been released on conditional police bail pending further enquiries.
Separate Incidents Lead to Multiple Arrests
In an unrelated operation just days later, on Friday, November 7, police responded to reports of four pedestrians near the M6 in the village of Tittensor, located between Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent.
All four individuals were arrested. A 23-year-old man, of no fixed address, was held on suspicion of entering or remaining in the UK beyond his time limit. A 26-year-old man and two teenagers, also of no fixed address, were arrested on suspicion of knowingly entering the UK without leave.
All four were referred to Immigration Enforcement following their arrests.
Wanted Suspect Apprehended in Stoke-on-Trent
The police activity continued into the weekend. On Saturday, November 8, officers used pre-emptive tactics to stop a vehicle travelling on the A500 Sideway in Stoke-on-Trent.
A man inside the vehicle was arrested and subsequently transferred to another police force area. This action was taken after it was confirmed that he was wanted in connection with allegations of rape and common assault.
Police Vow to Continue Road Safety Fight
Commenting on the series of incidents, Chief Inspector Scott McGrath reinforced the force's commitment to targeting criminals who exploit the road system.
He stated: “Every week our sights are firmly focused on the safety of our roads and taking the fight to criminals who think it’s acceptable to use them for criminality, including the distribution of drugs and criminal assets and exploiting vulnerable people.”
These coordinated efforts demonstrate the multi-faceted approach police are taking to ensure motorway safety and combat serious and organised crime across the region.
